Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor passed away today.

Her films included: National Velvet, Father of the Bride, Giant, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Suddenly Last Summer, Butterfield 8, Cleopatra & Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She was nominated for 5 Academy Awards, winning twice (Butterfield 8 & Who’s Afraid…)
After her acting heyday, she became active in AIDS charities, helping to start the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) and her own AIDS foundation, the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation.

You can toast her memory in NYC at a place named for the titular telephone exchange for one of her famous films, Butterfield 8. (BU8 = 288, an upper east side exchange). In memory of Elizabeth Taylor, Butterfield 8 will be serving $8 Cosmos all night tonight.
