Scratch Paper Open Mic

Scratch Paper Open Mic
In the spirit of exploring “intelligent nightlife,” Caveat is hosting an open mic like no other. Researchers, teachers, and comedians will share the stage to hone their sets in a room that GETS IT. Are you a researcher or science writer who wants to work jokes into your upcoming piece? Are you a stand up comedian who wants to use history, science, or your other nerdy obsession to fuel your sets? Whether it’s comedy based in research or research with a little something extra, Scratch Paper will help you test out new material that offers audiences exciting insights into the world

Every Saturday afternoon
1:15pm
at:
Caveat
21A Clinton St. (between Houston & Stanton St.)
New York, NY
(212) 228-2100

There are approx 15 spots per mic. Guarantee a spot by signing up ahead

Please keep in mind that all sets – be they stand up, storytelling, or a talk – must be research-inspired. You can pull facts and stories from any realm of study, but you’d be missing the mark to joke about your cat… unless it pertains to biology or evolution or the history of domesticated animals.

Slideshow presentations are permitted, but they can’t contain embedded video or audio. All digital materials must be submitted on Friday at 2pm
