New Yorkers are coming together to support the people of Japan in the aftermath of their unfortunate series of devastating natural and man-made disasters.

Here are some fundraising events that will benefit Japan relief efforts…

Comedy Benefit
Red Cross Benefit for Japan
A special one-night only benefit show in cooperation with
the Red Cross to help those affected by the recent devastation in Japan.
All money raised this Thursday will go to help those hurt by the earthquake and tsunami.
No tickets will be accepted for this special engagement.

It’s time to stop reading about the disaster in Japan and to start doing something about it.
Join the local brewing community to support the Kiuchi Brewery in Japan.
Kiuchi brews Hitachino, and while their brewery hasn’t experienced too much damage, they are using their working bottling lines to bottle water, and are feeding as many people as they can in their restaurant.

Brooklyn Brewery will share their taps with selections from Empire Brewing Co., Heartland Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing Co., Sixpoint Craft Ales, Kelso of Brooklyn, Victory Brewing Co., and Coney Island Brewing.
Food provided by The Brooklyn Kitchen & The Meat Hook, Jimmy’s No. 43, Tanuki Tavern, and Waterfront Ale House
All proceeds will go directly to Kiuchi’s efforts to support their fellow sake and artisanal beer breweries in Ibaraki Prefecture.

Concert for Japan
Japan Society presents a 12-hour concert and open house extravaganza benefiting organizations that directly help people affected by the earthquake and tsunamis that struck Japan. In addition to various music acts by dozens of artists, this one-day event offers special activities for all ages, from Origami and Washi Lantern Installation workshops for good wishes, to Language Classes, Calligraphy Workshops, Kamishibai Storytelling and more.

100% of proceeds from this event will go to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund.

Japanese sweets are available for free sampling and tasting.
Other food and drinks will be available for purchase.
