The 84th Academy Awards take place on Sunday, February 26, 2012.

Sure, the big parties are out in L.A., but if you are reading this, chances are you are not in Hollywood, and would like to see some suggested viewing locations in NYC.  Well, thank you for reading.  So here you go…

Hosted by the “hardest working middle-aged man in show business”, Mr. Murray Hill.
A downtown NYC tradition, Murray Hill’s Oscar party will feature impromptu performances, impersonations of the nominated stars, movie spoofs, movie trivia games and lots of prizes, including a grand prize to the Winner of the Oscar prediction ballot (Ballots will be handed out before the show). Murray Hill provides running commentary during commercial breaks.  Audience members compete for “Best” and “Worst” Dressed.  Guests are encouraged to dress like their favorite celebrity for the chance to win fabulous silly prizes.

Oscar Contest at The Dive Bars
Go to oscar.com, then to “My Picks” and then to “printable ballot” for your Academy Awards pick list. Pick the winner for each category and submit your choices to lee@divebarnyc.com prior to Oscar Night. If you pick all of the correct winners you will be entered into a contest to win two tickets to “Silence! The Musical” starring our own Howard Kaye. You can also enter the contest by picking up Oscar Pick sheets at any of the three Dive bars, fill them out and leave them with the bartender.  Include your name, phone number and email on the ballot. One winner from each bar. Winners receive a gift certificate good for two tickets for the show. All entries have to be received via email or given to the bartenders before the Oscars begin.
