Joe Hurley’s Irish Rock Revue

[#10 in our series of New York’s top St. Patrick’s Day Month events]
This show is the highlight of the St. Patrick’s Day season. With an all-star line-up of professional singers & musicians, you are bombarded with one stunning performance after another. Each artist sings one song from “the great Irish songbook”, backed by the amazing house band lead by Music Director Jon Spurney (Passing Strange MD), with Mark Bosch – guitar (Ian Hunter), Tony Shanahan – bass (Patti Smith), Steve Goulding – drums (Mekons, Elvis Costello), Kenny Margolis – accordion (Cracker), Megan Weeder – violin and downtown’s own Tish & Snooky – backing vocals.

A few of this year’s featured performers will include: Country star Laura Cantrell, Indie-Rock Icon Steve Wynn, Ivan Julian (Voidoids/Matthew Sweet/Clash), Ellen Foley (“Stop Right there” of ‘Paradise by dashboard light’), UK comic legend Stephen Frost, Tony-Winner Michael Cerveris, SNL’s Christine Ohlman, Downtown chanteuses Marni Rice, Mary Lee Kortes, Lisa Burns, Tricia Scotti & Lianne Smith, Co-host Ed Rogers, Sheryl Marshall (Dusty Gals/Buster Poindexter), Soul-singing Broadway & film star Antonique Smith, Tony Shanahan (Patti Smith), James Mastro (Ian Hunter/Patti Smith), Tish & Snooky (Ramones/Blondie), producer Don Fleming (Sonic Youth, Teenage Fanclub), Alice & Alex (ex Modrocket), 2009 National Book Award Winner Colum McCann, Sam Bisbee (2010 Oscar Nominee!), Seth Adam, Gaz Thomas, John S. Hall (King Missile), Garland Jeffreys, Willie Nile, Ricky Byrd (Joan Jett), Owen McCarthy, Reni Lane, Jamie Noone, Faith Hahn, Alice Blythe & Alex (ex Modrocket), Tony Zajkowoski, and Al Landess. Guitar Great Adam Roth, who was in Jim Carroll’s Band, will join The IRR Band onstage for the musical tribute to Carroll.

Newly added to the line-up: singer-songwriter Jolie Holland will perform an Irish classic. Also now expected onstage is The Consul-General Of Ireland, Niall Burgess, who will speak a few words.
