World Cup of Craft Beer at The Porterhouse at Fraunces Tavern
International beers:

frauncestavern_worldcup2014aBrazil:
Colorado – Vixnu(pronounced Vish-New) Imperial IPA.  9.5% ABV 12ounce glass $9 / Limited Supply
Brewed with rapadura cane sugar. Featuring malt and hops, citrus & passion fruit aromas. Dry hopped with American hops. The addition of rapadura to the recipe make this beer a delicious balance of malt & citrus(passion fruit) flavors. Strong with subtle sweetness.

Italy
Birra del Borgo – ReAle Extra IPA
6.2% ABV 12ounce glass $10 / Limited Supply
On the nose hoppy notes explode [reinforced by the use of dry-hopping]. Grapefruit, bitter orange, mandarin, resinous and spicy notes are perfectly married with caramel and honey notes coming from the malts.

England
Thornbridge – Raven Black IPA.  6.6% ABV 12ounce glass $9 / Limited Supply
England’s premier craft brewery delivers a beer which is both complex and stunning. Five malts and six hops combine for bitter chocolate flavors with dark roasted fruits. Voted World’s Best IPA 2012 and 2013 at the World Beer Awards.

Germany
Reissdorf – Kölsch.  4.8% ABV $8 HH
A Kölsch is a basically German-stle pilsner – fermented with ale yeast, but matured at cooler “lagering” temperatures to produce an ale’s fruity complexity with a lager’s crispness. Reissdorf has a very light color, slightly malty, hop aroma; sweet, vanilla like, malt flavors; and a crisp, dry, cedary finish.

USA
New York
Ommegang – Fleur du Houblon.  6.8% ABV $8 HH
Last year’s best selling “summer seasonal” is back! The Fleur launched in 2013 and quickly became a summer favorite amongst the craft beer drinkers of New York. Fleur De Houblon (Hop Flower) is a rich gold color, with distinct floral hops in the aroma that follow through in the taste. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with pleasing complexity and spicy notes.

USA
New York
Sixpoint – Brownstone. 6% ABV $8 HH
Named after the fortified sandstone homes that raised generations of Brooklynites, including the Cosbys, this classic American Brown Ale is due to be retired. While we’ve been assured of it’s return this may be your last chance to try this generation of Brownstone. Medium-bodied mahogany-hued brew with a mild nutty flavor, a subtle coffee twinge, balanced with a toffee sweetness & pleasant hop spiciness. A great beer.
