First published in 2016. Happy St. Patrick’s Day]
Last year, we posted 17 songs to get you in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day.
There are so many great Irish songs, so in the spirit of Adam Sandler’s Hanukkah Song, here are ANOTHER 17 songs to get you in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day.

The Pogues – “The Body Of An American”
Since the 1980s, The Pogues have been part of the soundtrack to many great St. Patrick’s Day parties.

Christy Moore / Planxty – “Cliffs Of Dooneen”
Irish folk legend Christy Moore reunites with his early group Planxty to perform one of their early hits.

Dropkick Murphys – “I’m Shipping Up To Boston”
Readers reminded me of my omission of Dropkick Murphys from last year’s list, so here you go.

The Saw Doctors – “Hay Wrap”
This song always tears it up at Saw Doctors concerts. I’d kill for a pint of porter.

Paul Brady : ‘The World Is What You Make It’
An uplifting tune from Irish singer-songwriter Paul Brady

The Lost Tribe of Donegal – “One of Them Days”
The Lost Tribe of Donegal is the latest musical project of Chris Byrne (Black 47, Seanchie & the Unity Squad).
On St. Patrick’s Day 2016, they are opening up for Larry Kirwan at B.B. King’s and then heading back to Brooklyn for a night time gig at their home base, Rocky Sullivan’s in Red Hook.

Thin Lizzy – “Whiskey In The Jar”
Phil Lynott reinterpreted an old Irish standard for a new generation of rockers.

Screaming Orphans – “Step It Out Mary”
The Diver sisters from Bundoran, County Donegal (and NYC) perform this Irish folk song by Sean McCarthy.

Afro Celt Sound System – “When you’re Falling”
Afro Celt Sound System fuses modern electronic dance music with traditional Irish and West African music. This song features guest vocals by Peter Gabriel

Shane MacGowan & The Popes – St. John of Gods
I play this song when I am in a bad mood and magically, I am smiling before the end of the song.

The Waterboys – “And a Bang on the Ear”
From the “Fisherman’s Blues” album, this song reached #1 in Ireland in 1989

Celtic Cross – “Those Were The Days”
This song recaps legendary local Irish band Celtic Cross‘ exploits through their career gigging in New York and New Jersey.
They will be performing at Defiant Brewing Co. in Pearl River on St. Patrick’s Day 2016.

The Whole Tribe Sings “Happy”
This song from the Derry, Northern Ireland band was used in a Harp lager ad back in the early 2000s.

The Clancy Brothers – “An Poc Ar Buile”
You can’t go wrong with the Clancy Brothers. I picked this song, An Poc Ar Buile, The Mad Billy Goat, in honor of Puck Fair bar, which will be closing at the end of this month.

The Narrowbacks – “Temperance”
Rockland’s The Narrowbacks will be at Webster Hall with Girsa on St. Patrick’s Day 2016.

Mary Black “Song for Ireland”
