Today, February 22, is national Margarita Day. Yes, that is a real thing. It is a chance to appreciate and celebrate the tequila-based cocktail. The margarita is made with tequila, orange-flavored liquer (triple sec) and lime juice, usually served in a glass with a salted rim. In can be served frozen, on the rocks or straight-up.

Mardi Gras is the custom of power-loading your gluttonous behavior into one night before Ash Wednesday (hence the name Fat Tuesday). The first Mardi Gras in America was celebrated in Mobile, Alabama (then the capital of French Louisiana). New Orleans has become known as the capital of Mardi Gras, but if you can’t make it to The Big Easy, you can catch the New Orleans flavor, party atmosphere or live jazz right here in NYC.
