Let’s Write a Parody -Songwriter’s Workshop 101: 1:30-2:30pm

Parody songwriting workshop for people with little to no actual musical experience.
Led by Ben Lerman (LOGO TV), featuring a guest performer TBA.
Lunch will be provided.
Suggested Materials: Notebook, pen, recording device, mp3 of song you’d like to parody on phone or iPod, (original or karaoke version), headphones, your instrument.

How to Write Your Own Funny Song
Songwriting Workshop + Mini-Showcase:
2:45pm – 3:45pm
Pros discuss and share different songwriting techniques.
You’ll be given time to work on your own song and then can opt to take part in a mini performance showcase for a chance to present your song on one of the main stages in the 2013 NY Funny Songs Festival. Light snacks will be provided.
Suggested materials: 5 copies of your music / lead sheets, note book, pen, recording device, your instrument. All styles (folk, pop, avant garde, etc) of humorous music welcome.

Uke Can Do It! Ukulele Skill Building + Songwriting Workshop / Jam: 4-5pm
1/2 ukulele lesson, 1/2 songwriting workshop.
Hear pros share techniques, trade tips with fellow songwriters and you can opt to take part in a song circle jam.  Beginners welcome to watch the process.
Light snacks will be provided. Suggested materials: 5 copies of your music / lead sheets, note book, pen, ukulele. All styles (folk, pop, avant garde, etc) of humorous music welcome.

Homeslice Happy Hour – Mix, Drink, Mingle, Repeat: 5-6pm
Rub shoulders with comedy and funny music peers and pros over a funny song CD soundtrack.  Promote your upcoming show, event, product or service. Answer trivia questions and win free raffle prizes and tickets to the festival. Meet new friends. Tie one on. Get warmed up for the night ahead. Light snacks will be provided.

Twosomes & Threesomes – Comedic Dynamic Duos and Trios: 6:30 – 8:15pm
Featuring some of best duos and trios in comedy music:
Mel and El, Stuckey & Murray, Squirm and Germ, The Skivvies, and The Reformed Whores.
Doors open 6:30pm, show at 7pm sharp. Light snacks will be provided.

50 Funny Songs: A fast-paced showcase of 50 comedic musicians: 8-10pm
A festival favorite, 50 Funny Songs is back again!
Your emcees, comedians Giulia Rozzi and Brooke Van Poppelen roll you through 50—that’s right, 5-0 comedic performers of all genres, levels of experience and instrumentation, each sharing a 2 minute (or less) song with you. Featuring dozens of your favorite comedic musicians and many you’ve never heard of.
Advance ticket purchase strongly recommended.

Comedy bands perform + Stand-ups sing a funny song for the first time

A showcase of four 5-9 piece full comedy bands mock-rocking your laughing faces off
It’s mosh pit meets Mom jokes, balls-to-the-wall zingers, full bands and one liners, satire and stage diving. Between acts, stand-up comedians backed by the bands perform a funny song for the first time. Featuring comedy bands:
Kill The Band, The BTK Band, Bad Teenage Moustache, My Left Tit, Liam McEneaney and more. Doors at 9:30pm, show at 10:15pm sharp

Funny for Money 101 – Comedy Industry Panel: 1pm – 3pm
For performers who are interested in taking their independent comedy businesses in a money making direction or just picking up some insight to the biz. Comedy + music pros discuss how to cash in on years of pounding the pavement, job opportunities for comedic + musical performers, and answer all your comedy questions. Featuring Shirley Braha (Producer, MTV’s Weird Vibes, NY Noise), Matt Graham (Writer, Conan, SNL, This Too Shall Suck) and other guests TBA. Lunch will be provided.

Kidsongs 101 – Kids Write Their Own Funny Songs: 4-5pm
The first half of this show pairs comedy music pros with kids to walk them through creating their very own funny song. In the second half of the event, kids perform the songs for their parents and new friends. Kid friendly snacks will be served and writing materials will be provided.

Putting It Out There – Marketing Your Comedy Music To The Masses: 5-6pm
In the first half of this event, audiences will hear from PR whizzes and stars of internet exposure as they share some of their best practices for contacting the media, writing a press release and getting your work out there, followed by a Q&A. Even if you don’t work in comedy or music, if you’re promoting or marketing anything, you will definitely want to sit in on this event. The second half of the event will be reserved for sharing your ideas or press releases with the team to get quick fixes and help turning your pitches into solid gold. Snacks will be served. Featuring: Mandy Stadtmiller (xoJane web content editor), Jessica Delfino (creator of the NY Funny Songs Fest, viral video star).

A festival favorite, this show is guaranteed to raise eyebrows, make sensitive people faint, upset the Catholic League, irk the tea party and leave YOU in stitches. Packed with raunchy, low down dirty ditties, the collection of performers on this show have been celebrated AND criticized for their demented songs, which promise to make even the most hardened of ruffians say “Woah,” and of course, laugh. Certifiably dirty! With Jessica Delfino, Red Peters, Ben Lerman, My Left Tit, appearances from downtown burlesque beauty Ms. Tina Cione and other surprises! Bring grandpa, he loves this kind of stuff. This show is rated “R” for adult content.

“Weird Al” Yankovic Field Trip:  The Apocalypse Tour

Come see Weird Al in all his glory performing at the Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, NY, just a quick 45 minute trip outside the city.
